AU Marvel Verse Kurt Wagner was born under unusual circumstances in Germany; physically, he had the appearance of a demon, with blue-black fur, glowing yellow eyes, pointed ears, and a prehensile tail. For a long time, he assumed that he was abandoned because of this. His adoptive mother, sorceress and gypsy Margali Szardos, claimed that she found him beside the road in the Bavarian Alps. It was later revealed to him that his true mother was Mystique, and that his father was the warlord Azazel, who saved his son and turned him over to Margali to be raised. Kurt grew up in the circus where Margali worked, and though he was raised by everyone in the circus, he was unofficially adopted into Margali's family. He had a foster brother, Stefan, and a foster sister, Jimaine, and the three of them quickly became best friends. Because of his natural agility, and because it was the perfect cover, Kurt began performing as an acrobat in the circus. Audiences assumed that he was a normal boy dressed up like a demon, and so he went about his adolescence undetected. Later, the circus was bought out by an American millionaire who moved all of the best acts to his own circus. Kurt was one of those acts, but instead of picking up where he'd left off, he was drugged and placed in the freak show. A fellow mutant managed to help him escape, and he made his way back to Germany, appalled by the way he had been treated. When he arrived, he found that his foster brother Stefan had gone mad and killed several children. Because of a pact that they had made as children, Kurt went after Stefan in an attempt to subdue and help him, but in the course of their struggle, he accidentally broke Stefan's neck. The villagers, assuming that Kurt was the child-killer because of his demonic appearance, were about to lynch him when he was rescued by Professor Xavier. Taken in by the X-Men, Kurt learned to control his teleportation power and soon joined the team as a full member. Powers Kurt's primary power is that of teleportation. By displacing himself through an alternate dimension, he is able to appear wherever he chooses within a two mile radius. He can teleport a passenger, but it fatigues him to do so. He also has extremely heightened flexibility and agility, as well as a prehensile tail and the ability to cling to surfaces with his hands and feet. |
